Avensis Press Reviews
From both active and passive safety standpoints, the Avensis is a class leader.
The new engine is clearly more refined than the one it replaces. Start–up and tick–over are quiet. In give and take traffic conditions the latest Avensis is easy and relaxing to drive and there always seems to be enough power and torque in reserve for overtaking without too much use of the gearlever.
The pedal placements and gear change quality all contribute to the party and when you need to stop suddenly, the brakes are excellent. Should the unexpected happen, all models except the entry level 1.6–litre are fitted with an advanced vehicle stability system and nine airbags are standard across the range. From both active and passive safety standpoints, the Avensis is a class leader.
For the driver, nothing has been left to chance. The major controls are very well laid out, clear and easy to use. Seat and steering wheel are fully adjustable, so a comfortable driving position is quickly found.
